5th grade Science Standards: Objective 2 Evaluate evidence that indicates a physical change has occurred. Identify the physical properties of matter (e.g., hard, soft, solid, liquid, gas). Compare changes in substances that indicate a physical change has occurred. Describe the appearance of a substance before and after a physical change.
Visual Art Standards: Standard 5.V.C.2: Experiment with and develop skills in multiple art-making techniques and approaches through practice. Standard 5.V.C.3: Create artistic statements using art vocabulary to describe personal choices in art-making.
3rd grade cultural self-portraits are up! Kinder worked on using a watercolor resist and writing their numbers 1-9, adding lines to abstract their numbers. 5th grade is starting a Landform Batik. 2nd grade is working on playing with gravity, force, and motion to make marble paintings.
This week in the BTSALP Visual Art room 10/22-10/26:
In 5th grade, we are learning about adaptations of birds and value to draw our own scientific drawings of birds. In 3rd grade we are working on constructing cardboard self-portraits. Next time we are going to add symbols that show parts of cultures we are part of. 2nd grade is working on habitats, collaging the landscape of their habitat with torn paper. Kindergarten worked on abstracting their numbers with crayons so we can watercolor next time.
This week in the Art room 10/8-10/12: In 6th grade, we explored using watercolor to paint our galaxy background for our moon phases mixed media project.
This week in the Art room 9/24-9/27: We worked on color, cyanotypes, and "Get to Know You" paper sculptures. Be sure to walk around the school and see the amazing works of ART!
